The Canary Island paradise of turquoise waters

Complete Guide: How to get to Isla de Lobos from Corralejo

Visit Lobos Islet Natural Park It's not just an excursion; it's a journey back in time to a pristine Canary Islands. Hardly 2 kilometers They separate bustling Corralejo from this paradise of turquoise waters and volcanic landscapes. If you're planning your getaway, here's everything you need to know to make your arrival perfect.

 1. How to get there: Transportation options

The route crosses "El Río," the arm of the sea that separates Fuerteventura from Lobos. You have three main ways to get there:

The Regular Ferry (Water Taxi) It's the most common and economical option. These are large-capacity boats or speedboats that depart frequently.

  • Duration: 15 minutes.

  • Half price: €15 – €18 (round trip).

  • Ideal for: Those looking for flexible schedules.

Catamaran excursion For a more exclusive experience. They usually include food on board, snorkeling equipment, and time to sail along the coast.

  • Ideal for: Couples or groups who want a day of total relaxation without worrying about anything.

Sea Taxi (Speedboat) Faster and more direct. It's perfect if you have a small group or want an adrenaline rush before you get to the arena.

⚠️ Important! Access Permission

To protect the ecosystem, access is limited to 400 people daily.

Note: You must request a free permit on the official website of the Fuerteventura Island Council with a maximum of 5 days in advanceIf you book a ferry online, many companies already handle this permit for you. Be sure to check!

What to see and do: Must-sees on the Islet

Once the boat drops you off at the dock, paradise is yours. Here are my recommendations:

  • The Little Port: A picture-postcard scene. A wooden walkway over unreal blue waters. It's the best place to do it. snorkel and see schools of fish.

  • La Concha beach: A crescent of white sand sheltered from the wind. Perfect for families.

  • Ascent to Caldera Mountain: If you enjoy hiking, climb this volcanic cone (127 meters high). The views towards Corralejo and Lanzarote will take your breath away.

  • Martiño Lighthouse: At the northern tip of the island. A walk of about 40 minutes (one way) through lunar landscapes.

Where to eat?

There is only one place: the Antoñito the Lighthouse Keeper's Beach BarIt's an iconic family business serving paella and fresh fish. Reservations are required. Get a table as soon as you get off the boat, as places fill up quickly. Otherwise, remember to bring your own picnic, as there are no shops or vending machines.

🎒 Check-list for your backpack

So that you have everything you need in this protected area:

  • Plenty of water: There are no natural shadows or fountains.

  • Closed shoes: The paths are made of volcanic rock (the "malpaís"); leave the flip-flops only for the beach.

  • Eco-friendly sun protection: The sun is strong and the ecosystem is fragile.

  • Diving goggles: It would be a sin not to look underwater in El Puertito.

🕒 Recommended times

  • One way: Try to catch the first boat of the 10h AM to enjoy the island with few people.

  • Return: The last boats usually leave around 17:00 p.m. or 18:00 p.m. (depending on the season).
